Snoring & Sleep Apnea
Is Snoring an Issue at Your House? Do the walls of your house vibrate at night? Does your dog or cat sleep with his paws over his ears?
Maybe we can help
If you think you or someone you know has a snoring or sleep apnea problem please tell us. We can refer you for a sleep study to confirm the diagnosis and we can fabricate either a snoring appliance or a sleep apnea appliance for you, your family member, or your friend.
In some men or women, snoring can be reduced or eliminated simply by wearing an oral appliance at night. The appliance enlarges the airway by positioning the lower jaw slightly forward. The appliance fits snugly onto the teeth of each arch with the jaws slightly apart. The procedure to make the appliance is easy and painless. If you snore or your physician’s diagnosis is mild to moderate sleep apnea this snoring appliance could make a difference.
There’s snoring and then there’s snoring
A small percentage of snorers may have obstructive sleep apnea. This is characterized by fatigue, loud snoring, and nocturnal gasping, choking, or snorting. The fatigue comes from the chronic sleep deprivation. People with sleep apnea are seven times more likely to be in a motor vehicle accident. They also face an increased risk of heart attacks and strokes.
The treatment for severe cases of sleep apnea may include surgical procedures to widen the airway. There is no guarantee that these irreversible procedures will work. Another treatment is CPAP which is a breathing device that is worn while sleeping. Many people have found relief by wearing CPAP. It is not painful. A third treatment is a Sleep Apnea appliance which can be prescribed by your physician for us to fabricate. We have been making these for many years.
